Die Verfehlungen is a linen bound book that is unusually thick. It is displayed on a pedestal, lying on its side, the title facing upwards. It is 18 inches high and thus three times as thick as it is wide. The German title of the book, Die Verfehlungen (engl. The Misdeeds) is embossed in gold both on the cover and on the spine. The work makes it clear that the list of misdeeds is long. But whose misdeeds are we talking about? Is it about all of humanity, or is it just the artist’s personal lapses? A look inside the book reveals: all the pages are blank. Why? Does helplessness in the face of our failure make us speechless? Or does the work still offer space for countless entries? And what if one day it will be full? Will it be the first volume of a long series?
